Spencer Sussman is a tenor and bass trombonist, composer/arranger, and educator from the San Francisco Bay Area.
Spencer holds a masters degree in jazz studies at San Jose State University, studying under the expertise of Scott Whitfield, Thomas Hornig, and Aaron Lington. He has performed and recorded with Caloncho, Elsa y Elmar, Jon Faddis, Jamie Davis, Clairdee, Francisco Torres, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Spencer has also toured internationally and performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Jazz à Vienne, and throughout New Zealand. Locally he has performed at the SFJAZZ Center, San Jose Jazz Summer Fest, and KCSM's Jazz on the Hill in San Mateo.
Spencer is the founder and director of East Bay Jazz, a pre-professional music academy for high school musicians. He is also an Applied Faculty instructor at Santa Clara University and Las Positas College.
Spencer currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area where he performs, composes, arranges, and teaches music.
